Aciclovir Sandoz (Qoctor Reference No: CS03)

Aciclovir is an antiviral medication, and can be helpful in treating recurrent bouts of cold sores, which are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV1).  It may relieve the pain and the duration of symptoms, and works best if it is started as early as possible in a flare up. Treatment for cold sores involves taking one tablet 5 times a day for 5 days.

Aciclovir is also often used to treat flare ups of Genital Herpes which is caused by HSV2. Again, it is best started as soon as symptoms appear- as for cold sores, the course involves taking one tablet 5 times a day for 5 days.
