This is an injectable progesterone hormone which lasts for 12 weeks.

Pros

Once it’s injected, there is no need to remember to take any doses of contraceptives- it’s taken care of until your next dose is due
It does not interfere with sex
It is not affected by any other medications
It may make periods lighter or stop altogether
It may reduce premenstrual tension

Cons

Some women get unpredictable vaginal bleeding
Return to fertility after stopping it can be slow- up to a year in some women- so it’s not a great option if you are planning a pregnancy in the near future.
Some women report weight gain
It does not prevent sexually transmitted infections
